Guys! You now number 12 MILLION! That is wild and awesome and I am grateful to have this platform and be able to speak to so many of you. SO, if I could have your attention for a moment I would love to tell you about Sophie Grace Taylor @superstrongsophie and her family. I do not know Sophie or her family but I have been following her positive cancer journey and her battle with Osteosarcoma on IG. She has been an inspiration to me and I am in awe of her strength and the love of her parents and siblings. Tragically, Sophie recently passed away and I cannot imagine the pain her loved ones are feeling. I know just getting to know her through her account has been a gift to me even though i am a total stranger. So I wanted to give back to Sophie and her memory. Her parents have established a go fund me page so her name can live on and I have made a donation. It would mean so much to me if you guys would check out the page (link in my bio). Consider making a donation and spread the word. Sophie was a beautiful young girl and clearly such a bright light. I know I will never forget her. Exactly 1 year ago today I was just getting over food poisoning and wonder what the hell I was gonna do with myself in 2018. Here I am today, sick again, (Classic) but holding my first born daughter. I guess 2018 had its own plans for me. This was by far the most surprising, challenging, heart breaking and heart bursting year I have ever experienced. I am so grateful and humbled by it. #fbf to what feels like another world and another life but was really only 2 months ago. Pregnancy was an incredible time: Full of joyous celebration, true tests of patience and quiet moments of great solitude, uncertainty and fear. My greatest hope was that I could experience those months without public comment or exposure, without being asked by the outside world to define my experience or my feelings around it. Because until she was born everything felt truly undefined and open ended. Looking back now, I want to express an ocean of gratitude for the people who held this space for me, this privacy for me and for the time I was able to take to experience it. (Also arguing with paparazzi while 9 months pregnant helped bring out my inner mama bear so thanks for that?) Thank you @elizabethmessina for photographing me in such a strange and wonderfully beautiful time and for helping me celebrate my body and my transformation into motherhood.

This is America. We are a country in which shootings happen so frequently; someone could survive one only to be killed in another. Telemachus Orfanos, 27, survived the Las Vegas massacre last year. He was killed in the Thousand Oaks massacre late Wednesday evening. I’m too mad and scared to say more, so I’ll leave you with the words of his mother, Susan: “I don’t want prayers. I don’t want thoughts. I want gun control. I hope to God nobody else sends me any more prayers. I want gun control”

I love to participate in elections. I love to make my voice heard and cast my ballot for the candidates and the issues I believe in. But today taking my baby girl to the polls made me feel that much more invested and proud to participate in the future of this country. I want an America that believes climate change is real and that clean energy is the solution. I want an America that supports transgender rights. I want an America that is not afraid of those seeking asylum and will keep families together. I want an America that protects its citizens, not one that shoots them down in the streets and in schools. I want an America that offers health care for everyone and does not punish the sick, the disabled and impoverished.
