Flux is a song that I wrote entirely from the heart that seemed to capture how I felt about not ever being able to let go of a past love, even though it was over for a reason. I feel like I am in a constant state of change and upheaval and it makes me unable to root myself and get over things easily. I think a lot of people have that one person they wonder what life would be like if things had worked out. How would we be living? Would I be the same person? On this record I found myself taking inspiration from different relationships and stages in my life. The past two years have been the first time I’ve really been able to confront my survival techniques throughout my work- to be able to reflect on how being on tour non stop, performing, and having to be “ok” all the time affected me as a human being and how it took its toll on my relationships. I no longer wish to sugarcoat things and that honesty is the only way I can throw things out for good.

I knew when I heard the first version of this song with my little voice on that it was meant to be. I didn’t expect it to be as big as it was, I honestly assumed it was just a love song for a film that I was grateful to be a part of. I would giggle when I first started singing it live because I’d never sang anything like it before, but soon enough it became the most important moment of my show. Whether you like big old ballads or not this song has never failed to make people sing along and come together, and even when I’ve been in the saddest of states you would always cheer me up during it, smiling back at me on that massive stage all by myself! A few nights ago I presented at the @billboard Women In Music awards. Was an honour just to be in the presence of such remarkable artists and women working in the music industry. Made me see how much has changed since I first started a decade ago (for the better) and I feel more positive than ever about the future of music. Also @spaceykacey is a real life angel . Was weird to be presenting something instead of singing for my supper, thank you again @billboard and see you next year ??‍♀️
